Expressing a Giving Spirit, California Artist Celebrates the Season of Giving

December 21, 2011 in News

Glen Lyons is a man who appreciates the important contribution non-profit agencies like Sierra Mental Wellness Group performs in their community. That’s why, when he learned that Sierra’s Tahoe City office was undergoing a “beautification re-boot” of cleaning and painting, he contributed a collection of nine paintings to help redecorate the office. Glen recognizes there are many ways to support the important work performed by nonprofit agencies which focus their work, frequently with limited resources, for the benefit of others.

Artist Statement: “I think of my paintings as experiments in color and texture. All paintings start out as imaginary landscapes…a cave, a mountain wall or a satellite image. I try to have even a small section of a painting be a good painting”.

Glen graciously donated several of his works.

The staff at SMWG is thrilled to have original works of art enhance the quality of their work space and extend heartfelt a thank you to Glen for his generous and creative gift.

Glen’s uniquely personal contribution to SMWG is one example of the way an individual can extend their time, talent and resources to a meaningful cause.  In addition to Glen’s paintings, several other generous donations were made to SMWG during our “beautification re-boot”. Thanks are also extended to the owners and staff at Swigard’s Hardware for their generous donation of paint and painting supplies, to Christy Buchman of Naturally Maid Housekeeping for all her hard work helping to clean our work space, to Alese Miller for helping us with filing, organizing and painting and to Alice Baldwin for helping to make the children’s therapy room a truly wondrous place.
